Southern Time and Alarm, now S.T.A. Security, Inc., was started in Jackson, MS on Labor Day 1978 by Wayne Fugitt.
Over the Years the “ Time “ part of Southern Time and Alarm got smaller, and the “ Alarm “ part got larger, so the new name became S.T.A. Security.
Wayne worked at International Business Machines, now I.B.M., Repairing Typewriters in the early days.
After that, He also worked for Simplex Time Recorder, now part of Tyco International. He Designed / Installed / Serviced Fire Alarm Systems, Tower Clocks, and Master Time Clocks. He also repaired Punch Clocks, Watchman's Clocks, and other types of Commercial Wall Clocks and Bell Systems.
He was the Service Manager at Simplex Time Recorder, when he decided to strike out on his own and to start his own business, Southern Time and Alarm in 1978.
Wayne, and later on his wife Dot, ran the Company for many years, and all of our customers became part of the Southern Time and Alarm “ Family “. Through hard work, top notch customer service, fair pricing, and the best advertising in history, Word of Mouth Advertising, Southern Time and Alarm has enjoyed continuous success and has been around for almost 40 Years.
Wendell Fugitt started working part time as a teenager, and started full time shortly after graduating from Byram High School in 1985. Wendell started his Factory Trained in the late 1980's on Addressable Fire Alarm Systems by Thorn/Autocall ( now part of Tyco ) & Access Control Systems by Advantor Systems, and still continues to Attend Training Courses / Receive Factory Training to this day, as Required by the State of MS.
Over the years we have undertaken a variety of projects from the “ Run of the Mill “ Security and Fire Alarms, to Complex Energy Management Systems, Designing and Manufacturing Computers Servers, Selling and Repairing Computers, Setting up Computer Networks, Satellite Internet Installations, as Service Representatives for Many Equipment Manufacturers & Security Companies, Safety System Installations, Medical Equipment Design and Manufacturing, Computer Controlled Growing Systems, as well as quite few other Unique Projects.
